Koobface Virus: What You Should Know About

Probably your children are addicted to social networks websites like Facebook or Myspace. Exchanging messages with friends, sharing photos and various other exciting activities keeps them busy on the social network website hours after hours.

A virus named Koobface is known for being spread through messages of these websites. It is initally a computer worm that tricks the user to download the actual virus. So far two variations of the 'Koobface' have been identified. One is  the Net-Worm.Win32.Koobface.a, which attacks through website Myspace' and the other one is Net-Worm.Win32.Koobface.b, which attacks through the website Facebook'. Once the computer system is infected with this virus it will hijack the browsers and display annoying fake system alerts, it may direct users to malicious websites or fake search engines. The worst of all it may be threat to your privacy.

The worm is spread through the messages from infected computer of other friends on the network. Message headers are funny or exciting and could be like My friend catches you on hidden cam' . It makes user tempted to open the message. On opening the worm will direct the user to download some video codec, ActivX plug in or adobe flash player updates to view the video. If the user tricked in downloading, the system will be infected by the virus.
